This mixer combines the ability of a higher-priced brand with the economy that anyone can afford. The dough hooks make bread and other creations easy to make, and the portability makes using this mixer a breeze. The added attraction of a "burst" button makes mixing a snap. When the batter gets a bit too hard, simply push a button and gain a little more power to get through it. All-in-all, a wonderful machine. Puts the power of grandmaster cooking into your kitchen, and not at a grandmaster price.
Cant beat for the money...

I bought this unit for my mother for Christmas and she loved it. She used it the same day to make homemade cookies that turned out great. You simply cannot beat it for this price, especially with the great features it has. 5 stars for exellence.
A great hand mixer in a stand

This is a hand mixer that comes with a stand, it should not be compared with a stand mixer. This mixer is the same as the 62695R hamilton Beach hand mixer that has great reviews. The proble is when people try to use it as a stand mixer and find that it is not strong enough. It is great to do those tasks that you normally would do with a hand mixet that take a long time to mix, like when whipping cream, making egg whites, making merengue. The rest of the time you have a great hand mixer, and you can use the bowl for your mixing needs.
Very well designed

After a surprising amount of product research for a mixer I purchased this one and I must say after reading tons of reviews on mixers of all things this one clearly beat the rest. I must say this mixer has met all expectations so far, and the stand feature is an excellent bonus. Other reviews seemed concerned that the mixers don't reach the bottom of the bowl, I don't really see how they could be much lower as my guess is they are only a quarter or half inch from the bottom. If you were mixing something thick for a long time the hands free feature would far outweigh the occaional scoop with a rubber spatula. The motor has a nice strong healthy sound, and the product itself has a nice solid feel. I'm a guy just starting to play around with cooking, and I think buying this was a good first step in outfitting a quality food prep kitchen.
Good Condition

This item came in good condition and so far has put up with everything that's been thrown at it. For a cheap mixer, it's pretty damn suitable (if you're doing simple things, of course).
Great Product

Hamilton Beach standing blender

We like the Hamilton Beach blender. The bowl spins, but very slow. I also wish it had the paddle for the dough hooks instead of what was with this blender. However, we have used it frequently and it is a time saver.
Not for heavy duty baking.

I liked this mixer until last week. We made cookies, put in the chocolate chips and the motor burned out. I've had this for almost 2 years so I can't say it was a total piece of junk, but I wish it lasted much longer. If your not using it for heavy duty baking - cookies, breads, etc. then your fine. But, I would spend more money on a better product if you ask me.

My wife loves this stand mixer. I initially received the wrong item, but customer service was amazing in getting me the correct item at no additional charge to me. It works great.
The only con that I see is she complains that if you don't put a large amount of stuff in it to be mixed, it won't reach it as it doesn't go all the way to the bottom. However, my mother-in-law has a much more expensive one that does the same. |
Great value

I received this mixer last Christmas after begging my mother for a mixer. She eventually bought this mixer at a store as a present. When I got it, I was excited to find out what kind of mixer it was, so I came to Amazon and hardly found any good reviews. Needless to say I was worried that my mother wasted her money. Anyway, I read the instruction book thoroughly, and I have been using it very frequently since. It works perfectly, and the bowl is a gem. The only problem is that the bowl is a bit heavy, so I hardly use it. Also, the mixer really cannot handle large amounts of dough as it gets caught between the two whisks. Everything else that persons were complaining about such as burning out the motor because they were trying to mix chocolate chips into a batter is all in the instructions manual. It's a great mixer for the low price, if you read the instructions.
Hand mixer with a stand

I just want to say this is exactly like the hand mixer I bought my daughter - with the addition of a stand, a plus for making cakes and whipping egg whites and cream.
Her hand mixer survived roomates for three years at school (thankfully the boys didn't use it) and I missed having it around for small jobs.
I bought myself one that seemed identical, a Proctor Silex, and loved it. When she brought hers home, it was this Hamilton Beach. They must be made by the same people. Anyway, this stand is a plus. But this is still a hand mixer.
If you want something bigger, get a Sunbeam Mixmaster but check the reviews here, they are not all the same. If you bake a lot and want something heavy duty to make cookie dough or bread, go for a Kitchenaid. |
Better than a hand beater, but has some problems

I got this unit about a year ago because I was tired of having to stand over the bowl the whole time I was beating or mixing something. I have used it about a dozen times since, mainly for things like banana bread, muffins and whipping cream, and have become irritated with several design flaws. The bottom of the beaters don't come down low enough, relative to the size of the bowl, for small quantities. So if you just want to beat a half pint of heavy cream, for example, you still have to detach the head and stand over it. And it is very awkward getting that head part off, especially while the beaters are moving. It is also awkward to get at the button that releases and lifts the head. And yes, the damn cord gets in the way a lot. However, since the better models are quite a bit more expensive, this one is still the best choice for my limited needs. It works very well when making larger batches of batter, and even with the whipping cream, once it gets going you can re-attach the head and walk away from it. I have not had any problems with the quality, especially given it's low price. And I really like the large bowl.
Good for light duty...

I bought this mixer with the intent of using it for all mixing needs including batters, cookie doughs and bread doughs mostly because it was basically one of the only ones that I could afford. It is great for cake batters and things you need whipped, like egg whites and creams...you'll have to stir a bit throughout because the beaters don't reach the bottom of the bowl, but mostly that's ok. I tried to make bread dough once and the machine shot a spark, smoke came out and the motor stopped. So, don't use this for any dough that is stiff. The hand mixer is very difficult and awkward to remove from the base, don't even try to do it while it's operating. Nice bowl though, I'm still using it even though the mixer is in the trash.
Piece of Junk

I got this for Christmas a year ago and I was really looking forward to using it because I really like to cook. Wow.. was I ever disappointed. This thing is a piece of junk. The cord gets in the way all the time, you can smell the motor when you've been using it heavily and it's so lightweight, you have to be really careful that it doesn't slide off the counter. Spend the money on a good mixer.. this one just doesn't cut it.
Disappointed

I bought the mixer as a Christmas gift and I was very disappointed in the quality of the mixer. It is so light weight and flimsy that it does not do a good job with something as simple as a cake mix. The beaters do not touch the bottom of the bowl and you have to keep using a spoon to get it to mix good. Might work ok as a hand mixer but not on the stand. I read all the other reviews and still bought it against my better judgement.
Okay Blender

The blender had to be shipped back to Hamilton Beach for repairs. We had the blender expire while making cookies. This was only the third time we had used the blender. The previous complaints were avoid similar models and go with a more powerful blender such as the 64695. I would have preferred just purchasing a kitchenaid to start with. Tech support is good - we are awaiting the replacement model.
Wasted Money

I wear myself out scraping down the sides when I use this as a Stand Mixer. I already have a nicer hand mixer. I didn't read reviews ... it was an impulse buy off-line.
I'm now shopping for a REAL stand mixer ... this was just wasted money.
I give it 2 stars only because of the price here on Amazon, which is MUCH less than what I paid for it.

I bought this at Walmart for $17 last week, just wanted to try a mixer before spending $200 for Kitchenaid. I don't recommend for anyone, but it is little better than a hand mixer. Most of the times you need to lift the bowl so that mixer mixes evenly.
Too weak for bread dough

I have to agree with the review "Awful". I recently got this as a gift. Since it came with dough hooks I used it to knead my bread dough. The mixer did a fine job for nearly 5 minutes. Then it started to struggle and smoke started coming out of it. It is nice to have an inexpensive stand mixer, but I wouldn't recommend using it for anything but cake batter. Throw away the dough hooks, they will only kill it.
