hand-stand-mixer Hamilton Beach Eclectrics 63221 All-Metal Stand Mixer, Sugar Better than Kitchen Aid and three times the warranty and quality.

Review Date: July 4, 2007

Every since Whirlpool took over Kitchen Aid the quality has gone way down with regard to Kitchen Aid mixers. I bought my first Kitchen Aid mixer a couple weeks ago, came home, turned it on and sparks flew out of it, and a few seconds later, a fuse blew. I took the mixer back to the store and got another mixer only this time the second speed didn't work. I then took the second mixer back but this time asked for a refund. What a piece of crap.
I finally found the Hamilton Beach mixer on line, and I couldn't believe the price for an orbiting, metal, stand mixer with a three year no questions asked warranty (Kitchen Aid only offers a one year warranty), so I bought it. The mixer arrived the other day, and I have been baking like a maniac every since. My first test was cherry, pecan scones, and the mixer didn't hesitate once while pushing through the thick, heavy dough. My second test - chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. This machine didn't bat an eye (eyes not included) forging through a double batch. Also, it's relatively quiet compared to Kitchen Aid - you can hear the quality in the motor. I can't even begin to say how much I enjoy this mixer. Kitchen Aid isn't the game in town any longer.

I thought I wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer just because they are known as "the mixer" to have. But when I read the reviews, I became less impressed. KA has its fanatics, but mixed into the raves, you learn about real limitations of the mixers. Hamilton-Beach has designed a top rate mixer that is well built, works well, and just plain looks good. A plus was it is not as heavy as the KA, but still works the same way. What you are giving up is the possibility of using attachments. We liked the idea of using attachments, but the idea of them and actually using them were two separate things. We decided if we ever, ever get the urge to make home made pasta, we will buy stand alone kitchen equipment for less than the added cost. If I had gotten the more expensive KA, I would have probably talked myself into several attachments that I would use once, and then store in my cabinets forever. I like the Hamilton-Beach so well I leave it out on my counter all the time, and am always getting comments about what a neat looking appliance it is. If you like having a top quality machine and can bear breaking away from the pack, this is a good mixer.
hand-stand-mixer Hamilton Beach Eclectrics 63221 All-Metal Stand Mixer, Sugar Solid, powerful and quiet

The main thing that differentiates this stand mixer from some of the more expensive brands is that it's slightly lighter, doesn't take power attachments and it runs much quieter. It's still solid and powerful enough to knead dough or mash potatoes without straining. It also works great for whipping meringue, cream or mixing cakes. Unlocking the bowl from the base and lifting it slightly while the mixer is running allows the plastic-coated beater to reach the bowl's bottom, eliminating the need for scraping.

Not surprisingly, Consumer Reports gave this mixer its "Best Buy" rating because it performs well and costs much less than many competitive models. This replaced my old two-beater stand mixer that I had been using for about 20 years before it fell apart. Though beauty is often in the eyes of the beholder, this mixer looks handsome to me like it belongs in a modern, home kitchen. Some of the other stand mixers look like they belong in a restaurant kitchen, not a home.

I ordered this mixer after 9:00 p.m. on a Tuesday night. It was shipped FREE to me via UPS ground on Wednesday and I received it on Thursday. I could not have been more pleased with the service for this order. No sales tax was added and the price was competitive.

I was wanting a Purple (my fave color) Kitchenaid Standmixer for the LONGEST time. I have gone back and forth, and read other reviews for different stand mixers, including this one. After my boyfriend had gotten back from his tour in Iraq, I knew that I would be doing a lot of cooking and baking for him, and I just didn't have the time to mix/knead everything by hand.
We had gone to Fry's Electronics here in San Diego, and they had a kitchen section, and I was able to look at the Hamilton Beach Eclectric up front. Although I had my heart set on my Purple Kitchenaid, I was immediately drawn to the sleek black Eclectric Mixer. My bf says, "You want it, and you need it" and put it in the cart and MADE me purchase the appliance. Although paying for a Kitchenaid was going to be steep, I bought the Eclectic for just $167. Let me tell you, I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy with it when I took it home!
I use it at least 2 to 3 times a week for a year now, and with me making homemade bread every week, it stands up to even the toughest dough such as Whole Wheat which is not always the most pliable. It's powerful, quiet, attractive to the eye (very sexy & sleek, lol) and very reliable.
A lot less expensive than the Kitchenaid, and works like a charm! I would recommend this to anyone, and if you are contemplating looking for a Stand Mixer, but don't want to shell out 300 bucks, than this is a wonderful buy!

It's a stand mixer, and a damn good one.

Yes, you'll have to scrap down the sides sometimes. you ALWAYS have to do this. Yes, it does not have the attacement option, but if you can't juice an orange without your stand-mixer (like the Kitchen-Aid attachment), then you probably can't set UP that attachment in the first place.

Here's now it is: Is it less expensive then the "leader"? Yes. It is just as well, if not better, made? Yes. It's good, get it.

Very sturdy construction. Much better than I expected. I made whole wheat bread the other day and it didn't even hesitate to blast through the dough. My wife has used it several times and loves it too. I origonally wanted to get her a KitchenAid, but I did a lot of research on the best mixers and I agree that this is the best value for your money.

Despite readings several negative reviews we decided to trust the consumer reports evaluation and we have not been disappointed. The mixer is very quiet, does an excellent job on bread dough, and makes whipping butternut squash really easy. We would recommend this mixer without reservation.

I bought this mixer for my dad. I have a Kitchenaid but the reviews liked this model better for bread making, my dad's passion, I agree. He is really happy with it and I used it last weekend and I love it. It is great and bonus, $100 cheaper than the Kitchenaid. It would be nice if it had the capability for some grinder, pasta, etc, attachments but really, I buy my sausage and pasta so......

I tried this mixer out for the first time over the weekend and was really impressed. I made a huge, double batch of cookies and this mixer did a really good job of working in all the flour to a stiff dough and didn't sound like it was having to work too hard. It is also a very quiet mixer which is a pleasant surprise over my previous one. I'm really pleased with this product.

I got this mixer earlier in the year and thought it was going to be great! I had had a Sunbeam Heritage and it just didn't live up to my expectations! I got this one, in black and I love it! It's beyond great!! It leaves virtually nothing un-mixed and is VERY powerful! I make ALOT of mashed potato's and cakes in mine and it is holding up great! If I ever have to replace it, I will buy the same brand and kind!

I bought this to help mix heavy duty frostings, etc. It was so helpful and easy to use. It has been my best appliance yet. It does all the 'heavy' duty mixing my hand mixer wouldn't even touch. This product is as good, if not better than Kitchen-Aid brand. Has all the same utensils, except for attachment potential of which I wouldn't ever use anyway. This was just what I needed.
hand-stand-mixer Hamilton Beach Eclectrics 63221 All-Metal Stand Mixer, Sugar So Far So Good

Reviewer: F. Matthews, Los Angeles, CA USA
I purchased this mixer four days before Thanksgiving 2009, since my old mixer (a combo hand/stand that I had gotten for free) died the previous year during the holiday season. It was then I determined that I would be buying a true stand mixer.

I researched many different models, and focused primarily on the CuisineArt and KitchenAid Artisan models. However, after logging onto Amazon.com and reading about the features of the Hamilton Beach Eclectrics Stand Mixer in comparison to the others, and after reading some of the negative reviews on the later KitchenAid Artisan mixers, I added it as a possibility, especially since I knew I would never use the various attachments that came with the other brands. After a bit more research, I decided I would purchase the Hamilton Beach, in Licorice (Black).

I signed up for a free month of Amazon Prime, and my mixer was delivered two days later just in time for my holiday baking. I could not have been more pleased with the order and delivery process through Amazon! The mixer looked like it was very sturdy and constructed quite well. I was also impressed with the ceramic coating of the cake beater and dough hook, which made them easy to clean.

For Thanksgiving I used the mixer to make a cheesecake, numerous pies, and a batch of homemade dinner rolls. It handled everything easily, although the rolls did appear to test the boundaries of the mixer's capabilities. For Christmas I was able to quickly mix a batch of sugar cookies and throw a number of cakes together without any trouble.

I will say that I need to scrape the sides once in a while, but I also figured out how to slightly unlock the bowl while mixing and cause the beater/whisk/dough hook to scrape the sides if needed. I also like that the shield gives me the ability to add ingredients while mixing.

So far, I am very pleased with the purchase, especially with how easy it is to clean up after using. The mixer also looks very nice sitting on our dark granite counters! I expect many more years of fun baking with my new stand mixer.

First of all I bought this for my mother for christmas.......she is a big baker and had been wanting a kitchenaid for ever........I saw this one and really couldn't see any big differences..........I was right.......I think it's better. It even has a great warrenty......three years replacement....Its heavy so make sure you have a dedicated spot for it, and as far as heavy bread doughs.......it hasn't walked across the counter yet when mixing them.
I have told several co workers that are cooks about it.

HubbyDearest gave me this for Christmas, after we shopped various brands. This is rated a Consumer Report best buy. Attractively engineered, heavy, sturdy, and well-built, I expect it to serve me well for a long time. I especially am impressed that they have the confidence to put a THREE YEARS WARRANTY on this product. I 'test drove' it and it seems to be working just fine. Once I have put it to actual use, I will add further comments to this review.

I searched and researched and compared different stand mixers. I decided on the Hamilton Beach Eclectric All-Metal Stand Mixer in Pineapple. I couldn't be more pleased! My daughter who is an aspiring baker loves it too. It has all the power we need and is so easy to use. It is exactly what I was looking for and I love the color. We plan on buying more of the Eclectrics Appliances in Pineapple, and are in the process of re-doing our kitchen. We chose to pick colors around the color of Pineapple, as I truely believe that these appliances will be around quite a while. And in my research found that Amazon had the best price out there.

This is a very, very good buy for the price and is what I needed and wanted. It doesn't have the attachments like Kitchenaid does, but I didn't need any attachments. I wanted and needed a good mixer.

I ordered this mixer based on reviews from a Consumer Reports type web site, where it was stated that this mixer is a best buy based on bang for the buck. I've used it for just about everything already and find it to be just what was stated. Cookie dough is a dream with this. I can do it all with the mixer (no folding in chocolate chips by hand) and it doesn't even labor on the thickest doughs. Mixing cakes is a snap.

The only drawback so far is the dough hook. I was a little disappointed with the performance of the mixer when making bread. The one piece dough hook just doesn't work as well as the (2) spiral shaped dough hooks on my old mixer. This was a big disappointment for me because I really wanted to be able to use the new mixer for bread dough too. I did try using the single hook and increasing the speed. It worked, but I had to stand there and hold the mixer in place as it "walked" due to the violence of the dough hitting the side of the bowl.

I always want a stand mixer and hubby was going to get me a KitchenAid. I got online and did some research as I want something will last me for a long time. After reading so many rave reviews, I decided to go for Hamilton Beach Electric Stand mixer. I talked hubby into having me open my Xmas present earlier so that I can bake all those Xmas cookies. upon delivery, my first impression of this stand mixer is impressed as the whole thing are all metal, like it says. It's also a beautiful deisgn, looks nice and elegant on the counter top in kitchen. I have only owned this mixer for 1 month and cannot provide much indepth input. But based on the different type of cookie dough I have made, the mixer does a great job. it is better than I expected as I remember some of the negative reviews. Some of the cookie dough I mixed was very thick and I had to switch to the dough hook after the dry ingredients were put in. Other than hook change,I really couldn't find anything to complain about. Actually we want the mixer to do a better job and when it necessary to use the right hook, then it is. Don't spend the big bucks on the other brand. We could easily afford the other one but I prefer to be a smart shopper and weight between the value and performance. this purchase cannot go wrong. if you really consider to get a stand mixer, this is it!
